About Us

Hidden Acres Sugar Bush was founded in 2020 by Troy and Jennifer Richard of Gaylord, Michigan.  As a child Jennifer and her family made maple syrup in their back yard. When Jennifer and Troy married and bought their first home the yard was full of beautiful Maple trees.  It just felt right to continue the tradition of making Maple syrup.  Troy set up a shed in the back yard and built his own burner and pan to make yummy syrup.  For years they wanted to find the perfect piece of land to be able to make syrup on a larger scale! In 2020 they did just that! They found a beautiful 160 acre parcel in their home town and immediately started building their dream.  Working along side many agencies to protect and preserve the land and trees Hidden Acres has been certified Organic as well as a certified Tree Farm and a chemical free zone.  Doing it right has been their goal from day one.  Troy and Jennifer have 5 amazing children and want a family business that can continue through the ages and be shared for generations to come.
